The Vampire Facelift
Dermatologists, cosmetic surgeons, and skin care specialists have been working on better treatments to combat the signs of aging. While it has a name that sounds like something out of a horror movie, the Vampire Facelift is actually a very safe and effective, non-surgical facelift treatment. The treatment gets its name from the fact that its derived from your own blood.
The Vampire Facelift is the most popular non-invasive, non-surgical aesthetic procedure used by today’s hottest Hollywood celebrities. The technique is a radical, clinically proven medical procedure that uses the science of stem cells, and the healing factors in your own blood, as a safe an effective alternative to a surgical face-lift procedure.
The unique approach combines the proven effectiveness of dermal fillers to restore lost volume, and Platelet Rich Plasma to actually stimulate the regeneration of new skin cells and collagen to create youthful beauty and radiance in just a single doctor’s visit. The Stem Cells in Your Blood
Scientists understand that unipotent stem cells lie dormant in the skin and provide the building blocks for healing when an individual sustains a burn or cut. Until recently, physicians had no convenient way to stimulate those stem cells to grow new tissue. By utilizing the growth factors in the blood (specifically the platelets), a physician can activate the unipotent stem cells already in the skin and tell those cells to grow new, younger-appearing skin.
During the process of the Vampire Facelift, we use stem cell science to tell the body to grow new younger skin. Unipotent stem cells, which grow only one specific tissue, are in every part of the body. For example, unipotent stem cells in the liver grow new liver tissue. Unipotent stem cells in the skin grow new skin. Thus, the Vampire Facelift takes the cosmetic rejuvenation process to a higher level.
The Procedure in 3 Simple Steps
- Isolating the Blood: First, our certified PA’s or RN’s draw blood from the patient’s arm (just like getting a blood test done). Then, using a centrifuge, the staff member isolates platelets from that blood (platelet-rich plasma or PRP).
- Micro-Needling: Once the blood is separated, we harvest the most important part of the blood called PRP, which is made up of platelets and plasma. The provider will use the Rejuvapen to make tiny microscopic pinpoint holes in the skin while using the patient’s PRP as a serum.
- Coating and Soaking Your Face with Blood-Derived Growth Factors: Once complete, there may be some PRP serum that we send home with the patient. It is important for the patient to place this serum in the refrigerator and use throughout the remainder of the day or evening.
In addition to being nonsurgical, the procedure comes with very little recovery time. Patients can easily go about their daily routine after the Vampire Facelift. Shortly following treatment, patients may experience redness, swelling, and tenderness that is similar to sunburn. Bruising is rare but does occur in some patients.
Any redness or swelling should subside a few days after the procedure. The multiple injection sites may cause a rough-feeling skin texture for up to a week following treatment. The results of the Vampire Facelift should continually improve the two to three months following the injections and can last for up to two years.
Most patients will notice an improvement in the texture, coloration, and volume of their skin right away. The treatment will also provide a gradual overall improvement in the appearance and feel of the skin as the growth factors continue to stimulate the body’s collagen production. It may take up to three weeks to see a sustained increase in skin volume and elasticity.
Most patients experience the full benefits after about seven weeks. Patients can expect their treatment to last about two years and can return for a second treatment a few months after the first for more pronounced results.

Pros & Cons: Balancing Your Decision
With so many ways to improve the face and with countless products and procedures available, why look for a better way? Although there can be a place for a surgical facelift, such procedures are not necessarily a cure-all solution to the concerns of the aging face. Cosmetic surgery can remove excess skin and make the person appear younger.
However, a surgical facelift can actually contribute to a face collapse as the skin stretches tighter against the bone making the person appear skeletonized. With hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, the face truly lifts away from the bone, restoring youthful volume to a beautiful shape.
With that in mind, one must not use the HA fillers around specific areas near the eye. Furthermore, the injector must be careful to avoid creating a shape that looks foreign to the person’s face. Also, the HA fillers are not extremely effective for improving skin tone and texture.
How long do results from a Vampire Facelift last?
A Vampire Facelift can last anywhere from nine months to two years.
Is there any downtime required?
There is little to no downtime required after a Vampire Facelift treatment.
What makes a Vampire Facelift different than a traditional facelift?
A Vampire Facelift is not surgery. This skin rejuvenation treatment promotes collagen production, resulting in a rejuvenated, younger-looking appearance.
Is the Vampire Facelift safe?
The Vampire Facelift is a safe and effective way to correct lost volume and signs of aging.
